How to Book

You can book either by: PHONE; FAX; EMAIL; or by using our WEBSITE BOOKING FORM, or by VISITING US IN PERSON at 170 Horseshoe Bay Road.

Birds & Forest Booking Office

We operate our own independent booking office in Stewart Island so we can offer you the best and most comprehensive advise on our trips to suit your interests and abilities. Please contact us directly - no one knows our business like we do!

Located at 170 Horseshoe Bay Road, Stewart Island, approx. 20 - 30 minutes coastal walk from Oban Township in Halfmoon Bay, and only a phone call away! We also operate a fully licensed shuttle if you require. There are public telephones in Stewart Island and many accommodation places have a telephone for your use. The only mobile phones that work here are Telecom New Zealand 027 Mobile Phones.

Our offices is on the way to the Rakiura Great Walk, North West Circuit and entranceway to Rakiura National Park, as well as the Garden Mound Track & Horseshoe Point Track. Moturau Moana Native Garden, Butterfield Beach and Horseshoe Bay Beach, are only a few minutes from our office.

Our Birds & Forest Booking Office is so called because it is set in a beautiful piece of native New Zealand forest. Kaka, New Zealand wood pigeon, red crowned parakeet, bellbird, tui, fantail, grey warbler and tomtit are often seen on the property. We occasionally see kiwi and weka.

Operating Hours

See below, we do accept calls after hours. If phoning, please note New Zealand local times when calling. We are a small business and may sometimes need to be away from the office, our answer machine always tells you when we are back. Please leave a message and we will return your call or better still, send us an email.

August, September and October
Open daily from 7.30 am to 7.00 pm (local New Zealand time).

November, December, January, February , March and April
Open daily from 8.30 am to 8.30 pm (local New Zealand time). After hours calls welcome from 7.00 am to 9.30 pm daily.

May, June & July
Open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 5.30 pm and Saturday to Sunday from 8.00 am to 1.30 pm (local New Zealand time). Over winter time, there may be days when the office is not manned, but the phone and emails will be checked regularly.
