Travel to Stewart Island

Stewart Island Visitor Levy

From 1st October 2013, visitors who are 18 years and above, and who do not spend their entire time in Rakiura National Park, and who are not beneificiaries of the Rakiura Maori Land Trust will pay a levy of $2.50 p.p. each way or $5.00 p.p. for cruise ship passengers. This is to assist the Stewart Island community in providing infrastructure, services and amenities for visitors.

The levy will be additional to your flight cost and may / may not be inclusive of your ferry fare.

Check in for your flight, HALF AN HOUR before departure time at Stewart Island Flight's Desk, Invercargill Airport. Shuttle buses/taxis are available from accommodation to Invercargill Airport. If you are driving, parking is available at Invercargill Airport and parking fees apply.

Flight Times are 20 minutes each way.

Airfares are shown below (they are to. Adults Fares are for 15 yrs to 59 yrs of age and Golden Age Fares are for 60+ yrs of age. Child Fares are valid for 4 to 14 yrs of age. Children 0 to 3 travel for free. Airfares will remain the same for the 2013 / 2014 Season.

Travel by Ferry

Bluff is half an hour drive south from Invercargill. Check in for your ferry HALF AN HOUR before departure time at the ferry terminal. Shuttle buses are available between Invercargill and Bluff. If you are driving, parking facilities are available at the ferry terminal and parking fees apply.

Sailing Times are 1 hour each way.

Adults Fares are for 15 + yrs of age. Child Fares apply for 5 to 14 year olds. Children 0 to 4 travel for free.

SPECIAL: During some school holidays, upto 2 children (0 - 18 yrs) go free per full fare paying adult on specific departures from Bluff and Stewart Island.
