We meet at Watercress Beach for a short briefing before taking our courtesy transfer to Horseshoe Bay or Lee Bay - depending on the weather/sea conditions and client abilities. We paddle along the coast, following the picturesque shoreline and exploring the beaches on our way. We stop for a short rest at Maori Beach.

Maori Beach, once the site of a Maori village and sawmill site has reverted to wilderness and has a lovely stretch of golden sandy beach with two creeks running at either end. We enjoy a stroll on the beach and take a look at the old sawmill boiler hidden in the trees.

We continue on to Port William, once the site of an early Maori settlement and later used as a sealing depot by early Europeans. Designated as a township it was briefly settled with Shetland immigrants. Little evidence is left of this era. We offer interpretation on the early European History of the area.

After lunch and a rest, we follow the shoreline back to Horseshoe Bay or Lee Bay - depending on weather and sea conditions. We pick up our courtesy transfer back to Watercress Beach.
