Our itinerary may vary to take into account weather/sea conditions and client fitness. We meet for a trip briefing the day before the trip commences and to ensure clients are fitted with correct gear. For everyone's safety and enjoyment it is important that clients have the appropriate fitness.

Day 1 - We meet at Watercress Beach and travel for approx. 3 hours across Paterson Inlet to Freds Camp Hut where we stop for lunch. Watch seabirds in the water or along the shore including penguins, cormorants and oystercatchers. Kayak along South West Arm to Rakeahua River, enjoy its peace and solitude as it winds and narrows before arriving at Rakeahua Landing approx. 2 ½ to 3 hours later. Take a rest before setting up camp for the night.

Day 2 - We are up early to climb Mt Rakeahua (681 mtrs), 5 hrs return to get spectacular views of Stewart Island and the surrounding islands and islets. Along the way enjoy lush forest with native podocarp trees, tree ferns and mosses changing to scrub and alpine plants. View birdlife during your hike. After lunch we paddle down Rakeahua River, staying the night at Freds Camp Hut.

Day 3 - Kayak to Millars Beach on the northern shore of Paterson Inlet and explore the site of the Norwegian Whaling Base before lunch. Gaze through crystal clear waters at the superb marine life including starfish, jellyfish, mussels and intricate seaweed whilst exploring tranquil Kidney Fern and Kaipipi Bay. Return to Watercress Beach where you will be assisted with transfers to Halfmoon Bay.
