A special birding tour - scenery and birds!

We have developed a delightful short tour for anyone interested in combining some birdwatching with a chance to see some of the scenery around Oban. You don't need to be a birdwatcher to do this tour. The itinerary changes over the seasons and depending on weather. We always include Observation Rock for the stunning views. We provide information on the birds seen and about the Island.

We travel by mini-van so you don't have to walk too many hills and stop often, to take several easy short 5 - 15 minute walks with some excellent photo opportunities. Your Driver / Guide will help answer your questions and make this an enjoyable and rewarding tour.

Operated for small groups of maximum 8 persons, so you receive a more personal experience.

LOCATION

Oban, Halfmoon Bay, Horseshoe Bay, Lee Bay, Stewart Island.

BIRDS SEEN

Some commonly seen birds include:

Land birds: Kaka, tui, bellbird, tomtit, fantail, grey-warbler, red-crowned parakeet, wood pigeon.

Sea birds: Little blue penguins, white-capped mollymawks.

Shore birds: Paradise shelduck, mallards, pied and variable oystercatchers, red-billed gull, black-backed gull, white-faced heron, kingfisher.

FLORA

Regenerating, native mixed hardwood-podocarp forest with coastal species.
