LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED SINCE 2000
We offer “off the beaten track” wilderness adventures, like no other, on Ulva Island and Stewart Island / Rakiura National Park, in New Zealand’s deep south for discerning individuals in small groups. Our focus is local and New Zealand natural and cultural history, opportunities to view kiwi and rare and threatened native birds and plants in the wild. We bring our in-depth local knowledge - gained from operating and continually developing our tours here, since 2000.
We welcome you to come and enjoy this special part of New Zealand, and share the beauty of the place we call home...
Ruggedy Range Wilderness Experience / Aihe Wildlife Cruises & Water Taxi and the Stewart Island Outdoor Adventure & Gift Shop continues to operate tours and services at New Zealand Alert Level 1 for all the country except the Auckland region which is at Alert Level 2. We have implemented NZ Government Guidelines in our Health and Safety Planning. We would appreciate Auckland region clients to wear face masks on all our tours whilst they remain at Alert Level 2.
We highly recommend prior bookings before coming to Stewart Island so we know to expect you and can schedule staff time. We continue to take bookings and enquiries for the coming season. Our emails, phone calls and messages continue to be answered daily.

"We were so lucky to have chosen Furhana to guide us on Ulva Island. Not only was she an excellent bird guide but her knowledge of plants and other animals was outstanding."
"This tour is beyond excellent. Owner and Tour Guide Furhana is so knowledgeable and so dedicated to teaching and showing you birds, trees, and fauna on Ulva Island."
"Furhana led our party through the majesty of the pristine rainforest, ears and eyes attuned to the environment. She knew every birdcall, every tiny plant, every massive tree, and her knowledge and passion flowed out and into us all."
